We often get technical questions about our school cafeteria input devices and since we were asked what is a CCD scanner, we will take the opportunity to clarify this for everybody.
A CCD school lunch scanner is a charge-coupled device with a sensor that captures a full image to read it.
The scanner illuminates the ID barcode with built-in LEDs. Reflecting of the code, the light is captured by a lens and projected onto a CCD sensor that converts the light patterns into a digital image. The digital image is then processed to extract the the barcode’s information.
The advantages of using CCD technology are that they capture high resolution images with great accuracy, details and can perform well in low-light environment.
When it comes to our signature school cafeteria devices, CCD barcode scanners are built in the front of all our pin pad scanner combo models.
